While I have issues with the renaming, I would like to thank the new owners for putting a huge investment into the Fort Henry Mall, to update and improve the aesthetics and layout. I also understand they found it necessary to change the name in order to draw new tenants. One ingredient missing that will really put the mall on the map and make the new “Kingsport Town Center” live up to its name, will be to surround the area with condo’s or apartments and several ammenities. Making the site into a small town would transform the area, increase much needed residential (the building of lofts in downtown can’t keep up with the demand), increase foot traffic, create a captive audience, increase sales, etc… the list goes on. This same approach is being utilized all over the country with great success.
